Smoothie Prep 101

How many of you start your day with a delicious smoothie?

I'm quite sure there are more and more of us using a morning smoothie as a way to consume our daily goodness from items such as fresh fruit, good fats, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and more.

If you're like me, your morning smoothie routine may have stretched out a little longer in the quest for the perfect smoothie, and how can you blame us with all the insanely nutritious ingredients around today? Sometimes my smoothie cup is full to the brim and I'm still trying to stuff things in!

Thankfully there are a few tips of the trade that can really help turn the GO SLOW into the perfect SMOOTHIE ON THE GO.

Here are some handy smoothie preparation tips:

  • Measure out and bag up your dry ingredients such as protein, maca, baobab, LSA or any other powders into small zip-lock bags. This can be done at the start of each week so you can just grab one when needed.
  • Peel and slice up fresh fruit such as bananas, strawberries and melon, and pop single-serving amounts into zip-lock bags or small containers for the freezer. This not only cuts your prep time in half but also keeps your smoothie cooler for longer by using fresh fruit that has been frozen.
  • Keep the rest of your smoothie ingredients grouped together in the pantry or fridge. I use a small serving tray which carries my coconut oil, manuka honey and coconut water. Then I can just grab the whole tray when I'm creating my morning masterpiece. This also stops me from forgetting a vital ingredient.

I hope these tips will help you as well as they did me. I would love to hear some of your favourite smoothie recipes or ingredients.
