The number of overweight people has increased hugely over the past two decades. Many research studies have indicated that replacing LCFAs (long chain fatty acids) found in vegetable oils and margarine, with MCFAs (medium chain fatty acids) found in Coconut Oil, and butter, helps to decrease body weight and reduce fat.
What is a “Medium Chain Fatty Acid”?
It may well be a saturated fat, however, a lot of research has been done of late and we are learning that Coconut Oil is a medium chain fatty acid, which means it is not stored in the cells like other saturated fats; it is transported direct to the liver where it is turned into energy . And if you do a lot of cooking and baking, it is the only oil that stays stable when heated to a high temperature.
